Project Overview

New Market Solar

The New Market Solar Project (“the project”) is located in Clay and Whiteoak Townships in Highland County, Ohio. The Project consists of two facilities: Highland 4, a 65-megawatt facility that occupies 582 acres, and Highland 2, a 35-megawatt facility that occupies 222 acres. The project generates clean, renewable electricity which is delivered to the regional grid through Dayton Power & Light’s Clay Substation. The project received OPSB approval on March 18th, 2021 for the Highland 4 facility (20-1288-EL-BGN). As part of the siting process, environmental resources, natural resources, and visual impacts were considered and impacts were minimized. The project achieved full commercial operations Q1 2024.

Project Summary

The New Market Solar project, developed by Highland Cincinnati Solar, LLC, is located in Highland County, Ohio. This long-term renewable energy initiative spans over 30 years and includes solar panels, electrical collector lines, and a substation, all situated on private land. Construction began in the second quarter of 2021 and was completed in the first quarter of 2024, marking a significant milestone in delivering clean, sustainable energy to the region.
