Our History
Clearlight Energy may carry a new name, but it is built upon a long-standing foundation of experience, leadership, and proven performance in the clean energy industry. Backed by a team of seasoned professionals and a portfolio of established assets, Clearlight is owned by LS Power and was officially formed following LS Power’s acquisition of a broad set of clean energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets from Algonquin Power and Utilities Corp. This acquisition also included a robust pipeline of development projects across the United States and Canada.
Many of the individuals leading Clearlight today have been instrumental in the company’s journey for decades, bringing deep expertise and a shared commitment to innovation and sustainable growth. Our legacy reaches back to the late 1980s, when four visionary entrepreneurs laid the groundwork for renewable energy development in Canada—an entrepreneurial spirit that continues to guide us today.
