Mr. Melnyk is the Senior Vice President, Finance of Clearlight Energy, where he oversees financial systems, reporting, tax, treasury, partnership management, and IT functions.

Before joining Clearlight Energy, Kevin held several financial roles at Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., starting in 2014. These roles included leading the accounting and FP&A function for the renewable energy business, leading the development and acquisitions team for renewables, and leading the same team on the utilities side of the company. Prior to Algonquin, Kevin held positions at private equity firms, banks, and accounting firms, managing and leading investment teams at each.

Mr. Melnyk is a results-oriented financial professional with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, having led over 50 buy-side deals ranging from single millions to over $3 billion. He also has a strong background in raising short-term and permanent financing, overseeing financial systems, and preparing budgets and financial reports. Kevin has a proven track record of building, restructuring, and leading diverse teams, implementing inclusive hiring practices, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. 

Kevin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Administrative Studies from the University of Winnipeg.
